Check Out the 3 Key Areas in Your Home

Jay Johnson - If you're as interested in home design as I am - and I live, sleep, eat, and breath interior design! - you'll want to know which areas of your own home or your clients' spaces are most in need of attention as respects feng shui. If you don't know what feng shui is, don't fear - it's not a cult or a fad diet that'll force you to give up chocolate. It's the eastern art of placement in order to maximize the chi or energy flow in any manmade space; its goal is to promote health and harmony. I'm certainly into health and harmony, and I've found that most professionally decorated homes that employ feng shui just feel good, and the choices make good common sense.

Ken Lauher is a NYC area feng shui practitioner and he's a former Wall Street broker. He helps his clients focus on three main impact areas when he does afeng shui consultation: the main entrance, the kitchen, and the bedroom. In the following video, Ken recommends some tips and solutions. By the way, that's Ken in action in the top photo, moving the furniture around to get the flow right for a client.

Augmented Reality Feng Shui iPhone App

Sisters Laura and Alison created the Inspired Everyday Living business to help people thrive by making simple changes around their homes. In feng shui, we've learned that making a few decor and furniture staging switch-ups can make a positive difference in a specific area of your life. What I've always liked about feng shui is that it's experimental and observational. You make an adjustment in where your bed is placed in your bedroom, then you observe the differences in your sleep patterns for the next two weeks. Keep a log. Are you sleeping better ... or worse? Are your dreams pleasant ... or nightmarish? Keep the change process happening, and make adjustments until you're observing a positive forward movement in your life. It's simple, yet transformative.

In the following video, you'll see Laura and Alison demonstrate their new feng shui iPhone app. It instructs you on how to look around a room and find out where the nine key areas are so that you can make changes to empower and strengthen the energy in a specific area.

Franca Giuliani - Lately, I’ve been wondering if my work really makes a difference to people. I do get positive feedback, but still…I wonder.

I was in Belgium recently at my friend’s house, and the evening was so beautiful, we sat outside in her backyard. We quietly watched brown finches taking turns bathing in a trickling fountain that led into a pond. Both my friend and I were in awe. She said that she had never seen this before.

Last week here at home (I live in New Jersey) there was a tremendous heat wave. I came home late and just wanted to relax. The last thing I wanted to do was be outside. However, I had been feeling guilty not keeping up with my garden, so I did go out to take a peak. The bird bath was completely barren of water. The last thing I wanted to do was to unroll the garden hose, get dirty, and get dirty wet. It really wouldn’t matter anyway if I filled the bird bath that night. Right? Well…

Storage Solutions Add Good Flow to Your Home

Design2Share's Anonymous UK Correspondent - Feng Shui principles dictate that you curtail clutter around your home so good energy can circulate. But unless you live in an enormous mansion or are incredibly ruthless about throwing things away, then the chances are that every spare space in your home is used as some kind of storage. I have yet to see a garage that only has a car in it, and have never had the pleasure of meeting an empty under-stairs cupboard. I actually think this would be kind of weird!

As for kitchens, most people don’t have an empty shelf available - and upstairs, it’s the same story with every nook and cranny under double beds and on top of wardrobes in use. If we're not careful, things can start to look cluttered so it's always a good idea to
