Colors of the Year

Pantone’s choice is warm and comforting

Jay Johnson - There is much riding on so-called “colors of the year.” The design industry overlaps with fashion, product manufacturing, the appliance industry, and many other marketplaces. Each pays attention to color trends. Today’s peachy glow might be set aside for tomorrow’s violet mystery. It’s not that colors change, but society’s perception of color morphs and adapts to all sorts of circumstances. We find it fascinating that there is no official COLOR OF THE YEAR, but rather a variety of colors chosen annually by those who make a living on color, e.g., paint companies.
