Jamie Drake
All hail the King of Color - Jamie Drake always pulls out all the stops and puts together an amazing palette in each room he designs.
His book Jamie Drake New American Glamour is an opus to the luxe life, helping shy and nervous homeowners everywhere set aside their fear of using color. We certainly applaud this mission.
From a student internship with famed Angelo Donghia, Mr. Drake has climbed to the heights of the residential interior design profession, with clients ranging from Madonna to New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg and Gracie Mansion.
This video from Traditional Home features his sage advice on using bold colors to generate electricity in any room.
We love to tip our hats to designers in the industry who keep pushing the envelope in terms of where interiors should be going. Bolder is better, and NYC designer Jamie Drake is having the career of a lifetime catering to the bold tastes of his clients - or we'll bet that he's got a very persuasive way of helping his more timid clientele move out of their safety zone.
In the room scene above, Drake took the personality of Showtime TV's Californication character lead played by David Duchovny and fabricated an edgy exterior - all California cool and slick (including that outrageous ceiling fixture made from paper clips).
